“Management is management.”

This is what a senior leader in a global organization stated in a meeting.

The meeting was about topics and courses the organization would be investing in for the coming financial year.

Intercultural Management, it seemed, was off the cards.

Why? Because this particular leader thought it was the wrong use of their budget. “Cultural differences aren’t that much of a thing. It's a waste of money.”

However, knowing others in the meeting disagreed, it was down to us as the independent consultants to make the case for investing in the course.

So, we began with making sure the scope and definition of intercultural management were understood correctly. It’s much more than just ‘cultural differences’.
